FoodTech

I can support food and drink production through my understanding of biotechnology, regulatory compliance, writing, and by talking with suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and anyone involved in producing and consuming food. My industry experience is mainly in the pharmaceutical industry, another highly regulated sector with similarities to the food production industry. In addition, I went to agricultural college when I left school in Ireland, and I enjoy talking with farmers about what they produce. I can help improve how food and drink is produced, processed, packaged, distributed, and consumed by supporting communication between businesses and between food producers and their public customers.

Challenges I can help solve

My industry experience is mainly from the pharmaceutical industry. This is a highly regulated industry, and my experience transfers well into food and drink production, which also has high regulatory compliance standards. I can help by identifying challenges and communicating them between various parties.

Regulatory compliance: Navigating industry red tape can be costly and time-consuming. I am familiar with regulatory hierarchies and, drawing on my experience in another highly regulated industry, I can quickly provide regulatory intelligence.

Complex supply chains: Tracking ingredients, quality control, and supplier management are fragmented, making transparency and compliance difficult to maintain. I have experience in science-based industry supply chain logistics that I can transfer to food production supply chains.

Last-mile delivery: Local deliveries have issues concerning route optimisation, traffic delays, vehicle maintenance, and unpredictable peak hours. I worked with supply chain teams, including an Irish freight forwarder and an American team setting up a supply chain to a developing country. I understand last-mile delivery concerns.

Strategic communication helps build trust, align operations, and can help justify premium pricing to investors and consumers. If you tell me more about challenges you face, I will help you develop your communication strategies.

For example,

Regulatory compliance: Proactive dialogue with regulators and policy whitepapers can demystify novel foods, potentially shortening approval timelines.

Complex supply chains: Communication might help stabilise supply chains by providing clear channels that align business forecasting with farmers' schedules, reducing ingredient waste and logistics bottlenecks.

Last-mile delivery: Transparent, real-time messaging can help manage consumer expectations during delivery delays, helping protect brand reputation when logistics fail.

Content in Ireland’s FoodTech sector

Ireland’s food production sector blends agricultural heritage with world-class innovation. FoodTech content in Ireland focuses on restaurant operation and delivery software, food science and health, smart agriculture (AgriTech), supply chain sustainability, and smart kitchens and IoT.

Restaurant operations and delivery software: This content centres heavily on digital transformation for the hospitality industry. Popular topics include mobile ordering apps, automated staff rostering, and drone deliveries.

Food science and health innovation: Content focuses on food for health, alternative proteins, and bioprocessing. Content ranges from gut health to organic seaweed ingredients for wellness.

Smart agriculture: As dairy and meat drive over 60% of Ireland’s agricultural output, significant content is dedicated to optimising crop yields and reducing environmental impact. Topics include precision spraying, soil monitoring and livestock tech.

Sustainable production and traceability: Because of Ireland’s ambitious national climate targets, this content highlights supply chain transparency, circular economies, and sustainable packaging.

Smart kitchen tech and recipe platforms: This category of content highlights how the Internet of Things (IoT) and data analytics are changing home cooking, including integrating recipe platforms directly into smart household appliances.

I want to help you ask the right questions, identify the right answers, and join dots.
